With the Global Economy quickly recovering, this year's Hong Kong Electronics Fair marks a record-breaking visitors to the Accutone booths.
Entering the main entrance of the refurbrished Trade and Convention Center, now almost double to total exhibiting space at 2,800 booths in total, it's still difficult to miss Accutone's annual showcase, especially with this year's decoration.
A colorful backdrop with the words "The 3 Little Pigs", Accutone highlighted three Piggy toys all wearing headsets. The blue piggy wears a headset made of wood, and the yellow piggy wears a headset made of stone, while the "orange" piggy wears a comfortable headset by Accutone.
A funny idea aimed to be a harmless joke on the smart piggy picking the Accutone headset instead of the other two, was well received, especially amongst female visitors. In fact, many visitors line up to take pictures with the three pigs, often creating a small crowd in front of the showcase section.
However, aside from the playful theme, this year Accutone's focus was on something slightly more serious.
Project Lexsus, is the name of the company's highlight in 2010. In explaining the reason behind a dedicated name for the new headset series, Mr. Albert Chan, Product Manager of Accutone has the following to say:
"The Project Lexsus isn't just like any other products we've made in the past. It's not just about a new headset, it's about a new perspective, a new movement for the brand."
"In the past, there are actually two very different headset markets, one with the high brands and excellent products for the "serious" users, but they are priced at about US$200 per headset. Then there are the very cheap products, like those from Korea, they lacks the technology, reliability and design. Entry markets love it, but they soon find out that they have to replace their products frequently, due to quality issues."
"At Accutone, we know how to make both types of products. In the past, we have focused on building affordable headsets. We are priced higher than the Korean brands, but we outlast them in terms of quality, so we have had good business on those."
"But we start to realize that a lot of our channels are demanding for something better. They are willing to pay more money for a better product, but they just don't want to be ripped off by the top brands."
"This is why we've set out to build a top-of-the-line series, something that will change people's perception, something that will upset the market, something that looks stunning, performs great but still reasonably priced. We call this the Project Lexsus."
The Lexsus_1010, is the first of its series, a headset built from ultra-light aluminum and enhanced plastics for sharp looks and durability. The 1010 headset uses a new type of microphone chamber design, for maximum noise-cancelling. The new design will negate the need for a windscreen, as it will barely pick up any wind-noise from speaking. The speaker element is also re-engineered for ultimate voice-band performance.
The narrow-band version, designed for traditional telephones, drastically reduce low-frequency and high-frequency line-noise, meanwhile amplifying the voice range.
Lexsus 1010 is also the first headset in the market with universal compatibility. It comes with an inline pin-configurator, which makes the headset pairable to most telephones in the market.
The Lexsus 1010 headset will be available in 2010 Q2.
Aside from the Project Lexsus, Accutone also launched another headset, explained by Sales and Marketing Manager, Ms. Ada Lee, "...the USB200_headset will be another highlight for the upcoming year. It is basically a big headset for professional audio listening packed into a small headset design."
"Don't be fooled by the lightweight and compact built of the headset...," Ms. Lee demonstrated by hooking the headset up to a notebook via the USB port, "...try it on, and you will immediately notice the superb bass performance and crystal clear treble sound from this sharp-looking headset."
As we learned later, the reason for the difference is because Accutone has managed to fit a pair of 40mm stereo speakers into a small-sized headset, something you don't see anywhere else in the market.
Perhaps it's because of the new product range, or perhaps it's because of the recovering economy, the number of visitors to Accutone's booth reached a new record-high, exceeding 20% of last year's record. Ms Lee said "we are very happy to see so many visitors come by our booth, and from their response, most of them have seen the Accutone brand elsewhere, and came specially to meet with us."
"This means that we are gaining wind in our global exposure, and more and more people are realizing the benefits of using and selling Accutone products. This we are very excited to learn, and we hope that next year will be even better."
Indeed.
